Gambling as Entertainment — Not a Financial Strategy

Responsible gambling means understanding, before you ever deposit, that gambling is a form of paid entertainment — not a reliable way to make money. Every bet you place, whether it is on a PSL T20 match or a live casino table, has a built-in house edge. Over time, that edge works against the player. The house always has a statistical advantage. This is not a secret or a platform flaw — it is the mathematical nature of gambling, and every honest platform acknowledges it upfront.

This does not mean gambling cannot be enjoyable. Millions of people worldwide — including across Pakistan's major cities like Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and Rawalpindi — engage with sports betting and online casino games as a leisure activity within a budget they can genuinely afford to lose. The key phrase is "afford to lose." If losing the money you deposit would cause you genuine financial difficulty, it should not be money you deposit in the first place.

786up is committed to making responsible gambling tools accessible, easy to use and impossible to ignore. They are not buried in a settings menu — they are front and centre, available to every registered user at all times.

If gambling is causing you distress
Stop playing immediately, use the self-exclusion tool in your account settings, and contact our support team. You do not need to be in a crisis to use these tools — they are there for any level of concern.

Your Responsible Gambling Toolkit

Every registered 786up user has access to the following responsible gambling controls, directly through their account settings panel. No special request or approval process is needed — you set them, they take effect promptly, and reductions apply immediately while increases may have a short cooling-off period.

Deposit Limits

Set a daily, weekly or monthly cap on how much you can deposit into your 786up account. Once the limit is reached, further deposits are blocked until the period resets. Reducing your limit takes immediate effect. Increases carry a mandatory review delay.

Loss Limits

Cap how much you can lose across all betting and gaming activity within a set period — daily, weekly or monthly. Loss limit controls help you stay within a budget that makes sense for your financial situation. Once your limit is hit, play is paused for that period.

Session Time Limits

Restrict the maximum duration of a single gambling session. When your session limit is reached, the Platform will prompt you and log you out if necessary. This helps prevent the "just one more bet" pattern that can make sessions stretch far longer than intended.

Reality Check Reminders

Set timed pop-up reminders that appear during your session to show how long you have been playing and how much you have spent or lost. These brief interruptions encourage you to reflect and make a conscious decision about whether to continue.

Cooling-Off Period

Take a temporary break from gambling without fully closing your account. Cooling-off periods can be set for a short duration — from 24 hours to several weeks. During this time, access to betting and gaming features is suspended while your account remains intact.

Self-Exclusion

The strongest available tool. Self-exclusion closes your access to gambling features for a set period or permanently. It is actioned promptly, cannot be reversed during the exclusion period, and is the right choice if you feel your gambling is becoming a problem.

Four Ways to Stay in Control

All four limit types are accessible from your account Settings panel. Reductions are applied immediately. Any request to increase a limit is subject to a mandatory waiting period to prevent impulsive decisions.

Daily Limit

Resets every 24 hours. Best for users who play frequently and want a strict per-day budget. Can be as low as PKR 100 or as high as you choose to set it.

Weekly Limit

Resets on a 7-day rolling basis. A good middle-ground for users who play a few times per week, particularly around PSL match schedules or ICC tournament rounds.

Monthly Limit

Resets at the start of each calendar month. Ideal for users who budget their entertainment spending monthly — treat gambling like any other leisure expense with a fixed PKR ceiling.

Permanent Exclusion

No reset, no time limit. A permanent self-exclusion closes your account and blocks access indefinitely. This is the right choice when you need to stop gambling altogether.

Activating Self-Exclusion on 786up

Self-exclusion is the most powerful responsible gambling tool on the platform. It is intended for users who feel their gambling is getting out of control, is affecting their daily life, finances or relationships, or who simply want a firm, enforced break. Here is how to activate it:

1
Log In to Your 786up Account

Access your account using your registered credentials. Self-exclusion must be requested while authenticated — the support team cannot action a request from an unverified contact.

2
Navigate to Responsible Gambling Settings

Go to Account Settings and locate the Responsible Gambling section. You will find all limit controls and the self-exclusion option in one place.

3
Select Your Exclusion Period

Choose between a short-term cooling-off period (e.g., 1 week, 1 month) or a longer or permanent exclusion. Think carefully before selecting your period — it cannot be shortened once activated.

4
Confirm Your Request

Confirm the exclusion request. The system will process this promptly. You will receive an email confirmation. Access to betting, casino and deposit features is blocked immediately.

5
Contact Support if Needed

If you experience any difficulty activating self-exclusion, or if you need it actioned urgently, contact the 786up support team directly via the email address at the bottom of this page.

Recognising Problem Gambling

Problem gambling can develop gradually and is not always obvious to the person experiencing it. These are some of the common warning signs. If several of these apply to you — or to someone you know — it is important to take action.

💸 Chasing Losses

Continuing to gamble to try to win back money you have already lost. This is one of the most common and dangerous patterns in problem gambling.

🕐 Losing Track of Time

Sessions that consistently run far longer than intended, or gambling late at night when you know you need to stop.

💳 Borrowing to Gamble

Using borrowed money, credit, or funds meant for household expenses to fund gambling deposits. This is a serious warning sign that requires immediate action.

😟 Gambling to Escape

Using gambling as a way to escape stress, anxiety, boredom or difficult emotions rather than as entertainment. This significantly increases the risk of problematic patterns developing.

🤐 Hiding Your Gambling

Concealing how much time or money you spend gambling from family, friends or colleagues — particularly those in Karachi, Lahore or elsewhere who care about your well-being.

📈 Needing Bigger Bets

Finding that you need to place increasingly large bets to get the same sense of excitement or satisfaction as before.

Ask Yourself These Questions

These questions are adapted from widely recognised problem gambling assessment frameworks. Answering "yes" to one or more of these is a signal worth taking seriously — not a judgement. Use the tools on this page if any of these ring true for you.

1

Have you ever gambled with money that was meant for essential expenses — rent, food, utilities or household bills?

2

Have you tried to cut back or stop gambling and found it harder than expected?

3

Do you find yourself thinking about gambling — past wins, planned bets or the next deposit — when you are supposed to be doing something else?

4

Have you felt restless, irritable or anxious when you have not been able to gamble for a period of time?

5

Have you gambled more than you planned in a single session, or returned to try to win back money you lost?

6

Has gambling caused friction in your relationships — with family in Islamabad, friends in Lahore, or colleagues?

7

Have you hidden your gambling activity or minimised how much you spend when asked directly?

8

Do you use gambling as a way to feel better when you are anxious, stressed or low — rather than as a form of entertainment?

If you answered "yes" to any of these: You do not need to have a severe problem to use 786up's responsible gambling tools. Even one "yes" is a reasonable prompt to set a deposit limit, activate a cooling-off period or reach out to the support team. Do it now — not after the next session.

Gambling Myths vs. Reality

❌ Myth ✅ Reality
"I'm due a win — I've lost so many times in a row." Each bet is statistically independent. Past losses do not increase your probability of winning the next bet. This is called the gambler's fallacy.
"Gambling is a reliable way to earn extra PKR each month." All casino games and most sports bets are structured to give the house a statistical edge. Over a large enough sample, most players lose more than they win.
"I can always win back what I've lost if I just keep going." Chasing losses is the most common driver of problem gambling. Each additional bet is its own risk — it does not erase or balance out previous losses.
"I can stop whenever I want — I just choose not to." This belief is a common early-stage sign of problem gambling. If stopping were truly easy, you would have done it the last time you told yourself to. Use the tools while it still is easy.
"Using responsible gambling tools means I have a serious problem." Responsible gambling tools are designed for everyone — not just problem gamblers. Setting a deposit limit of PKR 1,000 per week is simply sensible budgeting, the same as any other entertainment expense.
"Online gambling is safer than visiting a physical location because I'm at home." Online gambling can carry unique risks — it is available 24/7, requires no travel, and provides no natural stopping cues. This makes session limits and reality checks especially important for online play.

Where to Get Help

If you feel that gambling is affecting your well-being, relationships or financial situation, please reach out for support. You do not need to wait until things are serious before asking for help. The following general guidance applies to users based in Pakistan and internationally.

786up Support Team

The 786up English-language support team is available 24/7 to help you activate responsible gambling tools, discuss concerns, or process a self-exclusion request urgently.

Contact:

For self-exclusion support, mention "Responsible Gambling Request" in your subject line for priority handling.

General Responsible Gambling Guidance

Recognised international responsible gambling bodies and helplines include organisations such as GamCare, Gamblers Anonymous, and the National Council on Problem Gambling, among others. Users should search for resources applicable in their specific jurisdiction.

786up does not operate or maintain these external organisations and cannot guarantee their current availability. This is a text-only reference for general awareness.

Family and Loved Ones

Problem gambling rarely affects only the person placing the bets. If a family member or friend — in Karachi, Lahore, Multan or anywhere else in Pakistan — is struggling with their gambling, you can contact the 786up support team to ask about third-party exclusion requests.

Parental controls and device-level filters are also available through internet service providers and mobile device settings as an additional safeguard for households with minors.

If You Are in Financial Distress

If gambling losses have left you in genuine financial difficulty, stop all gambling activity immediately and seek support. Use the self-exclusion tool first. Then speak to a trusted financial advisor, community welfare service, or support network.

786up strongly cautions against depositing money needed for essential expenses — housing, food, utilities or family obligations — under any circumstances.

Responsible Gambling — Common Questions

Yes. You can set a deposit limit to any amount that works for your budget — including amounts as low as PKR 100 per day if that is what you need. The limit you set is applied immediately and cannot be increased without a mandatory waiting period.

Self-exclusion is actioned promptly after your request is confirmed through the account settings panel. Access to betting, casino and deposit features is blocked. If you request self-exclusion via the support team email, it will be processed as a priority. A confirmation email will be sent once actioned.

No. A self-exclusion period cannot be shortened or cancelled once activated. This is intentional — the purpose of self-exclusion is to create a genuine enforced break. Requests to reinstate access before the exclusion period ends will not be honoured.

Any genuine real-money balance remaining in your account at the time of self-exclusion is typically preserved and may be eligible for withdrawal once the exclusion period ends, subject to applicable KYC and Terms & Conditions requirements. Contact the support team for specific guidance relating to your account.

Absolutely not. The 786up platform is strictly restricted to adults aged 18 years and over — or the higher minimum age required by the operator's license jurisdiction. Age verification is part of the mandatory KYC process. Any account found to belong to a minor will be immediately suspended and the matter may be reported to relevant authorities.

Yes. All responsible gambling tools — deposit limits, loss limits, session time limits, cooling-off periods and self-exclusion — apply across the entire 786up platform, covering sports betting (including Pakistan cricket, PSL T20, ICC tournaments and football), live dealer casino, slots and all other gaming products.
